About the Opportunity

A well-established land surveying firm in the Long Island area is seeking an experienced CAD Drafter to support its surveying team with the preparation of accurate survey drawings and plans.

The ideal candidate will have experience drafting from field survey data and be comfortable working with survey points, property boundaries, topographic information, easements, utilities and other site features.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed 2D survey drawings and plans using AutoCAD and related drafting software.

  • Process and draft information collected by field survey crews.

  • Prepare boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, existing conditions and construction-related survey drawings.

  • Import, organize and manage survey points and field data.

  • Draft property boundaries, easements, rights-of-way, utilities, structures and other site features.

  • Prepare contours, surface information and other topographic elements.

  • Review field notes, survey data, deeds and other supporting documents.

  • Make revisions to drawings based on field information and direction from the Professional Land Surveyor or project team.

  • Maintain drawing standards, layers, dimensions, annotations and title blocks.

  • Coordinate with field crews to clarify discrepancies or missing information.

  • Assist with preparation of final survey plans, exhibits and other project deliverables.

  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.

  • Ensure drawings are accurate, complete and consistent with project requirements.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of CAD drafting experience, preferably within land surveying, civil engineering or a related field.

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD.

  • Ability to read and interpret survey drawings, plans, maps and technical documents.

  • Understanding of basic land surveying concepts and terminology.

  • Experience drafting from survey field data is strongly preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Good organizational and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with field and office personnel.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D.

  • Previous experience with boundary, topographic or ALTA/NSPS surveys.

  • Familiarity with survey point files, surfaces, contours and coordinate systems.

  • Experience working with total station/GPS field data.

  • Knowledge of New York surveying standards and practices.

  • Previous experience in a professional land surveying or civil engineering environment.
