This full-time position focuses on performing complete machine setups, making program edits, and producing tight-tolerance components across a modern turning department.
The ideal candidate brings strong mechanical aptitude, solid blueprint interpretation skills, and a proven track record of independently setting up multi-axis turning centers to produce precision machined parts.
Perform complete setups, tooling changes, workholding adjustments, and initial part prove-outs on CNC lathes.
Review and edit G-code/M-code programs at the machine control to optimize tool paths, speeds, feeds, and cycle times.
Work comfortably across major CNC control platforms, including Fanuc, Haas, or Okuma systems.
Interpret detailed engineering drawings, GD&T symbols, and dimensional tolerance requirements.
Use standard shop gauges and precision measurement tools to conduct first-piece and in-process dimensional quality verifications.
Diagnose and troubleshoot setup issues, tool wear, or machine performance variations to maintain tight part tolerances.
Maintain an organized, safe workstation and follow established shop safety protocols and standard operating procedures.
Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC lathes in a precision manufacturing or machine shop environment.
Control Knowledge: Strong familiarity with Fanuc controls is preferred; experience with Haas or Okuma controls is a plus.
Programming / Offsets: Demonstrated ability to read, edit, and adjust G-code and tool/work coordinate offsets at the control.
Blueprint Reading: Strong proficiency in reading blueprints and interpreting close-tolerance specifications.
Tooling: Candidates are expected to own standard personal measuring hand tools (micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and basic hand tools); all specialized gauging (such as dial bore gauges, depth gauges, and form gauges) is provided on-site.
Skills & Attributes: Strong shop math skills, high mechanical aptitude, attention to precision, and a proven history of punctuality, dependability, and professional references.
