CNC Programmer

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer with strong Mastercam skills to create and optimize CNC programs from customer drawings. This is a hands-on programming role within a job shop environment serving the oil & gas industry, with exposure to AS9100-certified manufacturing and both small and large precision-machined components.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work closely with machinists, supervisors, quality, and other production personnel to ensure jobs are programmed efficiently and correctly. Fanuc controls experience is required, as all machines utilize Fanuc controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and modify CNC programs for production machining.

• Interpret customer specifications, engineering drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.

• Determine the most efficient machining methods and processes for each part.

• Select appropriate tooling, machining operations, and operation sequences.

• Optimize existing and future CNC programs to improve feeds, speeds, cycle times, and machining efficiency.

• Identify and reduce potential machining and quality risks.

• Communicate programming requirements and standard work information to machinists.

• Calculate dimensions and tolerances using strong mathematical skills.

• Troubleshoot programming or equipment-related issues and report operating difficulties to the supervisor.

• Support the company's Quality Management System.

• Participate in company safety meetings as required.

• Maintain an organized and clean programming work area.

• Work collaboratively with supervisors, machinists, quality personnel, and other team members.

• Perform other reasonable duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.

• 3-5+ years of CNC programming experience.

• Strong experience with Mastercam or equivalent CNC programming software.

• Experience in a manufacturing or machine shop environment.

• Experience programming complex machined components.

• Experience with Fanuc controls.

• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.

• Strong understanding of dimensions, tolerances, and machining processes.

• Strong mathematical, reading, and writing skills.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively with personnel at all levels.

• Self-motivated with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
