Trade Superintendent - Structural Concrete & Masonry

Location: Melbourne, FL

Position Summary

We are seeking a Trade Superintendent with a strong, hands-on background in structural concrete and masonry construction to lead field operations for commercial projects.

This is a Division 03/04 trade position. The ideal candidate will come directly from the concrete and/or masonry trades and have progressed through hands-on field roles such as Concrete Finisher, Foreman, General Foreman, or Trade Superintendent.

The successful candidate must have direct field experience with structural concrete formwork, rebar/reinforcing, concrete placement and pours, structural concrete, and CMU/block masonry.

IMPORTANT: NO GC SUPERINTENDENTS

This position is NOT for General Contractor (GC) Superintendents.

We are specifically seeking candidates whose primary career background is in the structural concrete and/or masonry trades.

Candidates whose experience is primarily as a GC Superintendent, General Construction Superintendent, Residential Superintendent, Project Manager, MEP Superintendent, Inspector, or BIM Coordinator are not the target profile for this position.

Key Responsibilities

Structural Concrete & Masonry

  • Lead daily field operations for structural concrete and masonry work.

  • Supervise and direct concrete and masonry crews in the field.

  • Plan daily production, manpower, materials, equipment, and work sequencing.

  • Direct concrete formwork and forming operations.

  • Coordinate and supervise rebar and reinforcing steel installation.

  • Manage concrete placement, finishing, and large or continuous concrete pours.

  • Oversee foundations, footings, structural walls, columns, slabs, elevated decks, and other structural concrete elements.

  • Supervise CMU/block masonry installation, including layout, alignment, coursing, openings, and quality.

  • Read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and construction details.

  • Coordinate concrete and masonry activities to maintain efficient production.

Field Leadership

  • Lead and mentor concrete and masonry field crews.

  • Assign daily work and monitor crew productivity.

  • Maintain a strong, hands-on presence throughout active construction areas.

  • Identify and resolve field issues affecting production, quality, or schedule.

  • Communicate daily production goals and priorities.

  • Coordinate labor, materials, tools, and equipment.

Scheduling & Production

  • Develop and manage daily and weekly trade schedules.

  • Monitor production against project milestones.

  • Coordinate sequencing of formwork, reinforcing, concrete placement, and masonry operations.

  • Address material, manpower, weather, and field conditions affecting production.

  • Work with project management to maintain project schedules.

Quality Control

  • Inspect structural concrete and masonry work for compliance with plans and specifications.

  • Monitor formwork, reinforcing, concrete placement, finishing, and masonry quality.

  • Identify deficiencies and ensure timely corrections.

  • Maintain required workmanship and quality standards.

Safety

  • Enforce OSHA and company safety requirements.

  • Conduct toolbox talks and daily safety discussions.

  • Maintain safe working conditions for field crews.

  • Monitor proper use of PPE, equipment, and fall protection.

  • Promote a strong field safety culture.

Documentation & Communication

  • Maintain daily field and production reports.

  • Track manpower, materials, equipment, and work progress.

  • Communicate field conditions and production updates.

  • Assist with RFIs, inspections, and project documentation as required.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of direct structural concrete and/or masonry trade experience preferred.

  • 10-15 years of relevant trade experience preferred.

  • Previous experience as a Concrete Finisher, Concrete Foreman, General Foreman, Masonry Foreman, Concrete Superintendent, Masonry Superintendent, or Trade Superintendent.

  • Direct experience with structural concrete formwork.

  • Direct experience with rebar/reinforcing steel.

  • Direct experience with concrete placement and large/continuous pours.

  • Strong understanding of structural concrete construction methods and field sequencing.

  • CMU/block masonry experience preferred.

  • Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and construction plans.

  • Proven experience leading field crews and maintaining production.

  • OSHA 10 certification required; OSHA 30 preferred.

  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

  • Valid driver's license.

  • Comfortable working primarily in the field.

  • Able to walk active construction sites and climb stairs regularly.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Project Manager on a project-based basis.
