About the Job

One of our clients is hiring a detail-oriented Cardiovascular Technologist to join their practice. You will play a pivotal role in diagnosing and treating heart and blood vessel conditions using sophisticated imaging technologies to provide essential insights that guide patient care. You will report directly to the supervising physician.

Job Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with physicians, managers, nurses, and technologists.

• Perform cardiac CT imaging.

• Perform body CT imaging as needed.

• Perform CT examinations according to established clinical protocols and techniques to produce high-quality images.

• Set appropriate scanning parameters, including milliamperage, exposure time, slice thickness, cradle increment, orientation, and scan field of view.

• Provide CT images to physicians through PACS and/or specialized interpretation software.

• Enter and maintain patient information in the EMR and other health information systems.

• Analyze patient medical records and interview patients to obtain relevant history as necessary.

• Explain procedures and properly position patients while minimizing discomfort or distress.

• Use immobilization equipment when necessary to maintain the required position.

• Perform daily quality-control testing on CT equipment.

• Ensure equipment is adequately maintained and operational, perform preventative maintenance, and promptly report equipment failures.

• Obtain IV access for administration of contrast media in accordance with department policies and physician orders.

• Practice infection-control techniques and adhere to radiology safety guidelines.

• Provide CT services promptly, efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively.

• Maintain patient and employee confidentiality.

• Educate patients about examinations and procedures.

• Communicate with patients regarding preparation instructions and scheduling issues.

• Complete required documentation, including logbooks, worksheets, and screening forms.

• Enter patient data and complete appropriate documentation in the EMR and other health information systems.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology or Computed Tomography.

• Completed a formalized CT course as part of or in addition to formal education.

• Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Computed Tomography (ARRT(CT)).

• 1-3 years of experience performing cardiac CT, including cardiac computed angiography of the heart and coronary arteries.

• Cardiac stress testing experience required.

• Active Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Ability to maintain continuing education credits as required by the certifying body or professional society.

• Strong preference for candidates with experience in both cardiac CT and nuclear cardiology.

• Ability to correctly identify cardiac imaging protocols in collaboration with cardiologists.

• Competency in performing and post-processing advanced protocols such as TAVR, Cardiac CTA, Gated Chest, Runoffs, Brain Perfusions, Lung Screenings, and Heart Screenings.
