Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Director of Asset Management with strong solar industry experience to manage the performance, operations, maintenance, and financial performance of commercial-scale solar assets.

Key Responsibilities

Solar Asset Performance Management

• Manage the operational performance of a portfolio of commercial-scale solar PV assets.

• Monitor solar plant performance using SCADA, monitoring, and data platforms.

• Analyze actual energy production against modeled expectations, forecasts, and contractual requirements.

• Identify underperforming assets and develop corrective action plans.

• Track KPIs including system availability, energy production, equipment performance, and downtime.

• Conduct periodic portfolio performance reviews and identify opportunities for optimization.

• Monitor equipment trends and recurring performance issues.

Operations & Maintenance

• Oversee preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance activities.

• Manage and coordinate third-party solar O&M contractors and service providers.

• Review maintenance reports, inspection findings, and corrective action recommendations.

• Coordinate resolution of issues involving inverters, monitoring systems, communications, transformers, switchgear, and balance-of-system equipment.

• Oversee vegetation management, site housekeeping, security, and environmental requirements.

• Manage spare-parts inventories and replacement strategies.

• Coordinate equipment warranties, manufacturer support, and warranty claims.

• Develop and maintain O&M procedures and standards focused on reliability, safety, and system performance.

Financial & Contract Management

• Develop and manage annual O&M budgets.

• Review O&M invoices, service agreements, monitoring expenses, vegetation management costs, and other operating expenses.

• Track portfolio operating costs and identify cost-saving opportunities.

• Support contract administration, vendor management, warranty recovery, and insurance claims.

• Ensure vendors deliver services according to contractual requirements, schedules, and budgets.

Safety & Compliance

• Promote a strong safety culture across all solar operations.

• Ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, utility requirements, and applicable regulations.

• Conduct periodic site and contractor safety reviews.

• Support incident investigations and corrective action plans.

• Maintain documentation required for inspections, audits, and regulatory compliance.

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare regular operational and performance reports for management and asset owners.

• Develop portfolio dashboards and performance summaries.

• Communicate asset performance, maintenance requirements, risks, and optimization opportunities.

• Maintain accurate records of asset performance, maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment history.

• Serve as a key point of coordination between customers, utilities, O&M contractors, manufacturers, and internal teams.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.

• Licensed Journeyman Electrician or equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered.

• 5+ years of experience in solar operations, solar asset management, or solar O&M.

• Experience with commercial, industrial, utility-scale, or distributed-generation solar PV systems.

• Experience with both fixed-tilt and single-axis tracking ground-mounted solar systems is preferred.

• Experience managing third-party O&M contractors and service providers.

• Strong understanding of solar PV plant operations and electrical systems.

• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
