We are seeking a strategic and experienced Director of Municipal Engineering to lead the continued growth of our municipal practice in our St. Augustine, FL office. This senior leadership role is perfect for a driven engineering professional with a strong background serving municipalities, counties, public agencies, and government clients.
What You'll Do:
Lead & Strategize: Provide strategic and operational leadership for the Engineering Department while expanding services for public sector clients.
Deliver Excellence: Oversee the planning, design, and delivery of municipal infrastructure projects (roads, drainage, water/wastewater, parks, facilities), managing quality assurance, resource management, and financial performance.
Advise & Build Relationships: Act as a trusted advisor to municipal leaders, public works departments, and government stakeholders.
Drive Growth: Pursue new business opportunities, lead proposal development, and foster client retention within the municipal market.
Develop Talent: Mentor engineering staff, fostering technical excellence and professional growth.
Represent the Firm: Serve as the face of our municipal practice at public hearings, municipal meetings, and industry conferences.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Active Professional Engineer (PE) license (Florida preferred, or ability to obtain).
15+ years of progressive experience in municipal engineering, public infrastructure, and government consulting.
Demonstrated track record of business development, client retention, and leading multi-disciplinary teams on complex infrastructure projects.
Deep understanding of public funding mechanisms, capital improvement planning, grants, and regulatory requirements.
Experience with FDOT, county agencies, municipal public works, and state funding programs is highly desirable.
