Field Service Technician - Marine Equipment

The company specializes in tender-handling systems, boarding equipment, overhead beam cranes, hydraulic systems, custom sheet metal solutions, and other specialized equipment for the marine and yachting industry.

Summary

Our Client is seeking a dedicated Field Service Technician to join the team at its Lynwood, Seattle-area service facility.

This critical role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of specialized marine and yachting equipment. As a key member of the service team, the Field Service Technician will play an important role in maintaining high standards of quality, reliability, safety, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate should have strong mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, be comfortable working with heavy equipment, and be able to diagnose and resolve hydraulic and electrical issues in the field.

Field Service - Hydraulic Yachting Equipment

The technician will provide mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and splicing services for heavy marine equipment, including:

• Cranes

• Passerelles

• Gangways

• Shell doors

• Hydralift systems

• Hydraulic equipment and systems

• Other specialized yacht and marine equipment

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain products efficiently according to engineering and manufacturing documentation.

• Facilitate lifting and rigging plans for the removal and installation of yacht equipment.

• Communicate effectively with crane operators using appropriate hand signals during lifting and rigging operations.

• Maintain accurate documentation of labor hours, work orders, service activities, and field reports.

• Communicate professionally and effectively with customers, team members, and internal departments.

• Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical schematics.

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hydraulic and electrical issues in the field.

• Use a wide range of mechanical tools and equipment.

• Operate yacht cranes and related lifting equipment as required.

• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and respectful work environment both in the shop and aboard customer vessels.

• Work effectively as part of a team.

• Install hydraulic tubing, hoses, pumps, and motors.

• Perform hydraulic system testing and troubleshooting.

• Install electrical control panels and junction boxes.

• Install and route electrical wiring and properly terminate electrical connections.

• Test the functional performance of assembled equipment and systems to ensure compliance with applicable SOLAS and MCA requirements.

• Follow all applicable safety procedures and customer-site requirements.

• Maintain an excellent driving record.
