Position Overview

An established engineering firm specializing in water resource planning, hydraulic modeling, and infrastructure master planning is seeking a Water Resources Engineer with 1-5 years of experience in hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) engineering.

This position offers the opportunity to work on advanced Digital Twin technology-computer-based models that replicate real-world water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure. The role will involve hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, infrastructure condition analysis, data management, and engineering planning.

The position follows a Monday-Friday schedule with flexible working hours, generally between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The H&H team supports remote work for experienced professionals. Entry-level candidates may be considered for opportunities based in Fresno, California.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain hydraulic models for water distribution and wastewater collection systems.

  • Perform hydraulic and hydrologic analyses and evaluate system performance.

  • Identify infrastructure needs and recommend system improvements and enhancements.

  • Organize, interpret, and analyze engineering data using MS Excel, GIS, and other modeling and analytical tools.

  • Prepare data tables, figures, calculations, and other technical materials to support engineering studies.

  • Collaborate with project managers and other technical team members throughout project execution.

  • Plan and complete complex engineering assignments while meeting project objectives, schedules, and budget requirements.

  • Prepare detailed technical reports and planning-level cost estimates.

  • Support water, wastewater, and stormwater planning studies and related infrastructure assessments.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • 1-5 years of direct experience in hydrology and hydraulics (H&H) involving water, sewer, and stormwater systems.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Strong technical writing skills.

  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately with limited supervision.

  • Ability to apply sound judgment and common sense when addressing assigned responsibilities.

  • Professional and personable demeanor with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Technical Skills

Experience with modeling, data management, GIS, and related engineering software is a plus, including:

  • InfoWorks ICM

  • PCSWMM

  • HEC-RAS

  • ArcGIS

  • MS Excel and other data analysis tools

Compensation

Starting compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, technical capabilities, and background in hydrology and hydraulics.
