Position Overview

  • We are seeking an experienced Lead Residential AV / Smart Home Technician to help lead installations on high-end residential projects.

  • This is a hands-on position for an experienced technician who can work independently, guide other technicians in the field, troubleshoot technical issues, and help ensure projects are completed to high standards.

  • The ideal candidate is technically skilled, organized, dependable, and comfortable communicating with customers, team members, contractors, and other trades.

What You'll Do

  • Install audio/video, automation, networking, surveillance, security, lighting control, and other low-voltage systems.

  • Help lead residential installations from pre-wire through final system completion.

  • Provide direction and technical support to other technicians on the job site.

  • Read and follow project documentation, wiring diagrams, floor plans, and system designs.

  • Run, terminate, test, and label low-voltage cabling.

  • Install TVs, speakers, equipment racks, network equipment, cameras, keypads, and other smart home devices.

  • Build clean, organized, and properly labeled AV racks.

  • Install and configure routers, switches, and wireless access points.

  • Perform system setup, programming, testing, and troubleshooting.

  • Identify installation or technical issues and communicate them to the Project Manager.

  • Maintain high standards for workmanship, organization, cleanliness, and job-site safety.

  • Communicate professionally with homeowners, builders, contractors, and other trades.

  • Help train and support less-experienced technicians.

Qualifications Required

  • 3+ years of professional experience in residential AV, smart home automation, low-voltage, networking, or a related field.

  • Strong understanding of AV systems, signal flow, structured cabling, and proper termination practices.

  • Experience with residential networking and troubleshooting.

  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, floor plans, and project documentation.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and provide direction to other technicians.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • High attention to detail and pride in workmanship.

  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.

  • Ability to lift equipment, work on ladders, and perform physical installation work.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Control4, Savant, Josh.ai, Lutron, or similar platforms.

  • Experience with Sonos and distributed audio/video systems.

  • Experience with surveillance and security systems.

  • Experience building professional AV racks.

  • Experience with D-Tools.

  • CEDIA, Control4, Lutron, networking, or similar industry certifications.
