We are looking for a funeral director who is comfortable working directly with families and can confidently manage all aspects of a funeral service, from the initial arrangement conference through the conclusion of the service. The ideal candidate is professional, compassionate, highly organized, a team player, detail-oriented, and committed to providing exceptional care to families.

Responsibilities

• Meet with families and make funeral arrangements independently

• Coordinate and direct funeral, graveside, synagogue, chapel, and cemetery services

• Prepare obituaries, death certificates, funeral program materials, and other required paperwork

• Communicate and coordinate with clergy, cemeteries, crematories, newspapers, and other service providers

• Oversee all details of funeral services to ensure that each service runs smoothly

• Maintain clear and compassionate communication with families throughout the funeral process

• Drive funeral vehicles and assist with caskets, equipment, and service setup as needed

• Work closely with other members of the funeral home staff

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Funeral Director License required

• Experience independently making funeral arrangements and directing services

• Experience with Jewish funeral traditions preferred, but not required

• Compassionate and professional manner with excellent customer-service skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Extremely organized and detail-oriented

• Dependable, efficient, and able to manage multiple responsibilities

• Strong judgment and problem-solving skills

• Comfortable using computers and learning funeral-home software and other programs

• Able to work independently while also being a collaborative member of a small team

• Physically capable of performing the hands-on responsibilities associated with funeral service
