Position Summary

·         Client is seeking dependable and skilled Class A / Class B Machinist - Class A / Class B

·         Looking for machinists with hands-on experience operating and setting up CNC and/or manual machining equipment and a strong commitment to producing high-quality, precision components.

·         The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, select appropriate tooling, perform machine setups and adjustments, inspect finished and in-process parts, and work within established quality and manufacturing procedures.

·         Candidates will be considered for Class A or Class B level based on their experience, technical capabilities, independence, and machining expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machining equipment to manufacture precision components.

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, dimensions, tolerances, and work instructions.

  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, workholding, and cutting tools.

  • Verify programs, tooling, offsets, and setup requirements before beginning production.

  • Perform machine adjustments and offsets to maintain dimensional requirements.

  • Monitor machining operations and identify issues involving tooling, dimensions, surface finish, or machine performance.

  • Perform in-process and final inspections using precision measuring equipment, including calipers, micrometers, indicators, height gauges, and other inspection tools.

  • Maintain required dimensional tolerances and quality standards.

  • Complete manufacturing travelers, inspection records, and other required production documentation accurately.

  • Identify and communicate machining, tooling, drawing, quality, or equipment concerns to supervisors or Quality Assurance personnel.

  • Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean, safe, and organized condition.

  • Follow company safety procedures, quality requirements, work instructions, and customer-specific requirements.

  • Work effectively with supervisors, Quality Assurance, senior machinists, and other production personnel.

  • Assist less-experienced machinists when appropriate.

Class B Machinist Requirements

  • Previous experience as a machinist or CNC machinist in a manufacturing environment.

  • Experience setting up and operating CNC and/or manual machining equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints.

  • Working knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and basic tooling selection.

  • Understanding of dimensional tolerances and basic GD&T.

  • Experience using precision measuring and inspection equipment.

  • Ability to perform routine setups and machine adjustments with limited supervision.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.

  • Ability to follow written procedures and job-specific requirements.

Class A Machinist Requirements

  • Significant experience as a Class A, Senior, or highly experienced Machinist in a precision manufacturing environment.

  • Strong CNC machining and independent setup experience.

  • Ability to independently set up and operate machining equipment.

  • Strong understanding of tooling, speeds, feeds, workholding, and machining processes.

  • Ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, tolerances, and GD&T requirements.

  • Proficiency with precision measuring and inspection equipment.

  • Ability to troubleshoot machining, tooling, setup, and dimensional issues.

  • Ability to take a job from setup through machining and inspection with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to assist, train, or provide guidance to less-experienced machinists.

Preferred Experience

  • CNC mills and CNC lathes.

  • Multi-axis machining.

  • Precision machining of complex components.

  • CNC programming or program editing.

  • CAD/CAM software.

  • Tight-tolerance machining.

  • Experience working within a controlled Quality Management System.

  • Experience manufacturing components for highly regulated industries such as aerospace, nuclear, defense, government, or other demanding customer environments.

Education & Experience

  • High school diploma, GED, technical training, or equivalent machining experience preferred.

  • Relevant technical school, apprenticeship, or machining certification is a plus.

  • Experience level will determine placement as Class A or Class B Machinist.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work on the manufacturing floor for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift and move materials and tooling as required.

  • Ability to safely operate manufacturing equipment and use precision inspection tools.

  • Ability to follow all workplace safety requirements.
