Maintenance Technician - Electrician

Position Overview

The Maintenance Technician - Electrician is responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of electrical systems, machinery, and equipment within a manufacturing facility. This role will diagnose, repair, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical systems to minimize equipment downtime and support continuous production operations.

The technician will work closely with maintenance and production teams to complete preventive maintenance, respond to equipment issues, support installations, and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform preventive, planned, and corrective maintenance, as well as electrical repairs and troubleshooting as directed by maintenance and production leadership.

• Maintain and repair the facility's electrical systems, electrical network, and related devices.

• Maintain and repair facility lighting systems.

• Install power supply wiring, conduit, electrical motors, and related components for newly installed machinery and equipment.

• Install and maintain electrical systems for equipment such as conveyors, programmable controllers, and other production machinery.

• Perform electrical isolation/sectioning as required and inspect electrical systems to ensure proper operation.

• Diagnose malfunctioning electrical equipment, including transformers, motors, lighting fixtures, and related components.

• Replace damaged or defective wires, cables, electrical components, and other equipment as necessary.

• Troubleshoot malfunctioning machinery and collaborate with other maintenance personnel to identify and resolve electrical and equipment-related issues.

• Replace faulty electrical components, including relays, switches, motors, position-sensing devices, and similar components.

• Diagnose, repair, or replace faulty electronic components, including printed circuit boards.

• Participate in planned plant shutdowns and identify electrical maintenance requirements for facility systems, machinery, and equipment.

• Follow established safety procedures, maintenance practices, and applicable electrical standards.

• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities and equipment repairs as required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in chemical or food manufacturing is preferred.

• Registered Electrician within the state of Wisconsin or Journeyman Electrician/Industrial Electrical license preferred.

• Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.

• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels and occasional exposure to high noise levels.

• Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and operating industrial equipment.

• Occasional exposure to chemicals used in manufacturing processes.

• Work may involve humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, steel-toed boots, flame-resistant clothing, and hearing protection, will be required as applicable.

• Regularly required to walk, sit, talk, and hear.

• May occasionally be required to stand for extended periods and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects.

• Ability to reach with hands and arms and occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

• Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

• Must have adequate close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

• Ability to walk and climb stairs as required.

• Occasional use of ladders may be required.

• Must be able to safely climb ladders and work at elevated heights.
