Occupational Therapy & Certified Hand Specialist - OT/OTA

Location: Northwest Indiana - Multiple Locations

Job Type: Full-Time & Part-Time

Compensation: Starting at $92,000/year, with salary based on relevant experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients, review medical history and functional limitations, and develop individualized, evidence-based occupational therapy plans with measurable goals.

  • Provide orthopedic OT focused on reducing pain and restoring upper-extremity function, independence, and the ability to perform daily activities.

  • Provide functional task training and simulate activities such as cooking, writing, typing, driving, and other daily or work-related tasks.

  • Utilize therapeutic exercise, manual therapy, modalities, adaptive equipment, and environmental modifications to improve functional outcomes.

  • Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and maintain accurate documentation in the EMR.

  • Educate patients and families on adaptive techniques, home exercises, injury prevention, home safety, and strategies to improve carryover outside of therapy.

  • Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, PTs, PTAs, and other healthcare professionals to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.

  • Maintain basic knowledge of CPT/ICD coding and documentation requirements for billing and clinical services.

  • Participate in continuing education, clinical training, and initiatives supporting clinical excellence, patient service, and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Current, valid Occupational Therapist license in the applicable state.

  • BLS certification required at the time of hire.

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy required.

  • Doctorate preferred.

  • Minimum of one year of outpatient orthopedic OT experience preferred.

  • Candidates with other outpatient OT backgrounds will be considered.

  • Strong new graduates are welcome, particularly candidates with a strong desire to learn, grow, and excel in patient service.

  • Orthopedic experience preferred.

  • Certified Hand Specialists and candidates with relevant specialty certifications are especially encouraged to apply.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Strong knowledge of occupational therapy principles and practices.

  • Orthopedic rehabilitation experience, particularly upper-extremity therapy.

  • Experience with functional task training.

  • Experience recommending and training patients in adaptive equipment.

  • Strong evaluation and treatment-planning skills.

  • Strong clinical decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Basic understanding of CPT and ICD coding.

  • EMR documentation experience; ModMed experience is beneficial.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

  • Commitment to patient-centered care.

  • Desire to continuously develop clinical skills and pursue specialty certifications.

Compensation

  • Base salary starts at $92,000 annually, with a defined salary range based on experience.

  • Professional Development & Continuing Education

  • $5,000 annually, prorated by FTE, for each active approved Tier 1 board certification.

  • $1,000 annually, prorated by FTE, for each active approved Tier 2 certification.

  • Annual bonus of up to $10,000 based on:

    • Clinical Excellence

    • Service Excellence

    • Teamwork Excellence

The certification compensation structure applies to both full-time and part-time employees and is prorated based on FTE.
