Pediatric Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)

Position Overview

A growing pediatric outpatient therapy practice is seeking a compassionate and motivated Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join its team. The practice provides individualized, play-based occupational therapy to children with autism spectrum disorder, sensory processing challenges, developmental delays, fine motor difficulties, visual-motor challenges, and activities of daily living needs.

Pediatric experience is preferred but not required. COTAs transitioning from rehabilitation, skilled nursing, home health, school, adult care, or other settings are encouraged to apply. Mentorship and clinical support are available.

Position Details

• Job Type: Part-Time, Full-Time, or Per Diem

• Hours: Approximately 10-35 hours per week

• Schedule: Flexible weekday afternoon and/or weekend hours

• Compensation: $32-$40 per hour, based on experience

Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, one-on-one occupational therapy sessions under the supervision of a licensed OTR/L.

• Implement individualized treatment plans addressing:

  • Sensory processing

  • Fine motor development

  • Visual-motor skills

  • Self-care/ADLs

  • Play skills

  • Functional independence

• Develop fun and developmentally appropriate therapeutic activities.

• Complete treatment documentation accurately and on time.

• Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding patient progress and home strategies.

• Collaborate with occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and other members of the therapy team.

• Participate in family education and interdisciplinary team collaboration as appropriate.

Qualifications

Required:

• Active state Occupational Therapy Assistant license

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Reliable, organized, and professional work style

• Ability to collaborate effectively while independently managing an assigned caseload

Preferred:

• Pediatric therapy experience

• Interest in working with children with developmental and sensory needs
