Overview

A respected boutique litigation firm in Manhattan's Financial District is seeking a Premises Liability Defense Attorney to join its growing team. The attorney will handle premises liability defense matters involving property owners, businesses, insurers, and other defendants.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience defending premises liability claims and a strong understanding of insurance defense litigation. This role is best suited for an attorney who is comfortable managing cases independently, handling a litigation caseload, and working closely with insurance carriers and clients.

The Role

This position is best suited for an attorney with 3+ years of hands-on experience in premises liability defense who can independently manage cases from inception through resolution.

The attorney will be responsible for handling premises liability matters, developing case strategy, conducting discovery, taking and defending depositions, preparing motions, appearing in court, and working toward favorable resolutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Defend premises liability cases in New York state and federal courts.

• Independently manage premises liability matters from intake through resolution.

• Analyze liability, damages, insurance coverage, and potential defenses.

• Conduct investigations and develop litigation strategy.

• Draft pleadings, motions, legal memoranda, and other litigation documents.

• Conduct and defend depositions.

• Appear in court for conferences, hearings, motions, and trials.

• Handle discovery and ensure compliance with litigation deadlines.

• Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations.

• Communicate effectively with clients, insurance carriers, opposing counsel, and courts.

• Work closely with senior attorneys on complex litigation strategy.

• Maintain an organized and active litigation caseload.

Qualifications

• Admission to the New York Bar required.

• 3+ years of relevant premises liability defense experience preferred.

• Demonstrated experience handling premises liability litigation from inception through resolution.

• Experience representing insurance carriers, property owners, businesses, or other defendants.

• Strong experience with depositions, discovery, motion practice, and court appearances.

• Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload.

• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and communication skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong understanding of liability issues and litigation strategy.

• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced insurance defense environment.
