The Project Accountant is responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction and development projects. This role works closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Accounting to ensure accurate job costing, budgeting, invoicing, and forecasting. The Project Accountant plays a critical role in maintaining the financial integrity and profitability of each project.
Monitor project budgets and track actual costs against approved budgets.
Analyze budget variances and communicate findings to management.
Assist with project forecasting and cost-to-complete analyses.
Maintain proficiency within Procore, including:
Prime Contracts
PCSA
HCC
Budget Maintenance
Direct Costs
AP Invoicing
Waivers
Insurance Tracking
Review and verify project-related invoices and expenses.
Ensure costs are accurately coded to the appropriate project, phase, and cost code.
Maintain accurate job cost records and track commitments.
Review subcontractor payment applications and supporting documentation.
Track retainage balances and release schedules.
Assist subcontractors with training and troubleshooting, as needed.
Collect and maintain required compliance documentation, including:
Conditional and Unconditional Waiver Releases (automated through Procore Pay)
Certificates of Insurance (automated through Procore Pay)
W-9 Forms
Executed Subcontracts
Ensure all compliance requirements are met prior to payment processing, automated through Procore Pay where applicable.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
3+ years of project accounting experience, preferably in construction, real estate development, engineering, or a related industry.
Experience with job cost accounting and project financial management.
Familiarity with construction contracts, change orders, and retainage.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and job costing.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with ERP and project management systems, including:
Sage Intacct
Procore
QuickBooks Enterprise
Bluebeam
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams.

This position operates in a professional office environment and collaborates regularly with Accounting, Project Management, Purchasing, and Construction Operations to support the successful financial execution of projects.
This is a full-time, in-office position.
