Title: Quality Manager
Location: Elmsford, NY
Workplace Type: On-site
Job Type: Full-time
Reports To: Director of Operations
Compensation: $90,000 - $110,000 per year
About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Quality Manager to lead and continuously improve our Quality Management System (QMS) and establish consistent, practical quality practices across internal operations, suppliers, and contract manufacturing partners.
This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional who understands how to apply ISO 9001 principles in a practical manufacturing environment and translate quality requirements into measurable business results.
The successful candidate will play a key role in reducing customer complaints, improving product and process quality, lowering defect rates, strengthening supplier performance, and creating sustainable processes that prevent recurring quality issues.
While the organization is not currently pursuing formal ISO certification or accreditation, this position requires someone with strong experience working within an ISO-based quality system and applying ISO 9001 fundamentals to build a disciplined, effective, and scalable quality program.
As the Quality Manager, you will own the day-to-day quality system and work closely with Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, suppliers, and contract manufacturers. You will lead inspection and release controls, nonconformance investigations, corrective and preventive actions, supplier quality activities, process audits, quality training, and continuous improvement initiatives.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable being both strategic and hands-on-someone who can investigate a problem on the production floor, lead a root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, train employees, work directly with suppliers, and verify that improvements are effective and sustained.
What You'll Do
Quality Management System Leadership
Establish, maintain, and continuously improve practical quality controls based on ISO 9001 fundamentals.
Manage and improve the organization's Quality Management System and associated processes.
Develop and maintain effective document control, quality records, traceability, calibration, training, inspection, and process verification practices.
Ensure quality processes are practical, consistently followed, properly documented, and aligned with operational needs.
Strengthen quality systems where processes may be under-documented, inconsistent, or lacking clear ownership.
Establish clear quality standards, escalation processes, responsibilities, and accountability across the organization.
Nonconformance, Root Cause & Corrective Action
Lead containment activities for internal, supplier, and customer-reported quality issues.
Own the Nonconformance Report (NCR) process from identification through closure.
Conduct and lead root-cause investigations to identify the underlying causes of quality failures and recurring issues.
Develop, implement, and track Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
Ensure corrective actions are completed on time, properly documented, and effectively implemented.
Perform effectiveness verification to confirm corrective actions have eliminated or reduced recurring problems.
Use structured problem-solving techniques to reduce repeat failures, defects, customer complaints, and process variation.
Inspection, Testing & Product Release
Develop, update, and maintain incoming, in-process, and final inspection procedures.
Partner with Engineering to ensure inspection and testing procedures are aligned with approved drawings, specifications, product requirements, and test methods.
Establish and maintain clear product acceptance and rejection criteria.
Oversee inspection and release controls to ensure products meet approved quality requirements before shipment or release.
Support first-article inspections and validation activities when applicable.
Monitor inspection results and identify trends requiring corrective action or process improvement.

Develop metrics and reporting that provide visibility into quality performance and improvement opportunities.
Measure the effectiveness of process improvements and corrective actions.
Supplier & Contract Manufacturer Quality
Work directly with suppliers and contract manufacturers to resolve incoming-quality issues and nonconformances.
Lead supplier corrective action requests (SCARs) and follow up to ensure timely and effective closure.
Support supplier quality investigations and corrective action activities.
Help establish clear quality expectations and requirements for suppliers and contract manufacturing partners.
Participate in supplier audits and supplier performance reviews as needed.
Support manufacturing changes, vendor transitions, and process changes by ensuring appropriate quality controls and requirements are established.

Provide hands-on coaching, guidance, and development to quality personnel.
Establish clear expectations for documentation, escalation, follow-up, and issue resolution.
