Radiology Technologist

Position Overview

The Radiology Technologist / Patient Care Technician provides direct patient care support to the Physician and Registered Nurse while operating radiologic equipment to perform diagnostic X-rays and CT scans. This position works under the direct supervision of the Nurse Director and follows established clinical, radiologic, safety, and patient-care protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate and supportive patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician.

• Obtain and document patient measurements, including height, weight, and vital signs.

• Perform IV initiations and blood draws within the scope of practice and applicable protocols.

• Assist Physicians and Registered Nurses with patient assessments, examinations, treatments, and procedures.

• Perform diagnostic X-rays and CT scans as ordered by the Physician and in accordance with established protocols.

• Operate and maintain computerized radiologic equipment safely and effectively.

• Produce high-quality diagnostic images and upload images for radiologist review and interpretation.

• Apply appropriate positioning, imaging techniques, radiation-safety practices, and infection-control procedures.

• Perform required laboratory and diagnostic procedures and promptly communicate results to the Registered Nurse and/or Physician.

• Assist with crutch walking, dressing changes, splint and cast applications, and other patient-care procedures as needed.

• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation and medical records.

• Follow all applicable clinical, regulatory, safety, privacy, and security requirements.

• Perform additional duties as assigned to support efficient patient care and clinic operations.

Required Skills & Abilities

• Strong knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

• Knowledge of current X-ray technology, radiographic techniques, and best practices.

• Ability to safely operate computerized X-ray and CT equipment.

• Ability to learn and perform quality-control procedures for radiologic equipment.

• Basic computer proficiency, including electronic medical records and computerized documentation systems.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce consistently high-quality diagnostic images.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively with Physicians, Registered Nurses, patients, and other healthcare professionals.

Education & Experience

• Associate degree in Applied Science or an equivalent degree/diploma from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital, emergency room, urgent care, or comparable clinical setting.

• ARRT certification required.

• Current CPR/BLS certification required.

• Current Texas Department of State Health Services license as a Radiologic Technologist required.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, reach, bend, and move for extended periods.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

• Ability to physically assist with positioning and transferring patients for various diagnostic examinations.

• Physical strength, mobility, and agility necessary to safely perform radiologic procedures and patient-care responsibilities.
