About Our Client

Our Client is a growing fire protection contractor specializing in the design, engineering, BIM coordination, installation, and inspection of fire sprinkler systems for multifamily, commercial, industrial, and other building projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Fire Sprinkler Estimator / Preconstruction Manager to take a leading role in their estimating, bidding, and preconstruction activities.

This is an important position within Our Client's organization. The successful candidate will work closely with management, engineering, project management, and field operations to develop competitive and profitable proposals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review architectural, structural, MEP, and fire protection drawings and specifications.

  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for fire sprinkler systems.

  • Develop material and labor estimates.

  • Estimate installation labor based on project conditions, system complexity, and crew productivity.

  • Prepare competitive and accurate proposals.

  • Review bid documents, addenda, specifications, and contract requirements.

  • Identify scope exclusions, clarifications, alternates, and potential project risks.

  • Obtain and evaluate material and subcontractor pricing.

  • Coordinate with Our Client's engineering and project management teams to establish appropriate design and installation approaches.

  • Review sprinkler layouts and understand NFPA 13, NFPA 13R, NFPA 20, and applicable building and fire codes.

  • Track pending bids and follow up with customers regarding proposal status.

  • Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, owners, and other industry partners on behalf of Our Client.

  • Identify upcoming projects and new business opportunities for Our Client.

  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and project negotiations as needed.

  • Assist Our Client's management with bid strategy, scope review, and final pricing.

  • Maintain an organized bid pipeline and track awarded and lost projects.

  • Provide feedback regarding market pricing, competitors, labor conditions, and project opportunities.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience estimating fire sprinkler systems.

  • Strong knowledge of fire sprinkler construction and installation.

  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and MEP construction drawings.

  • Experience with material and labor takeoffs.

  • Strong understanding of NFPA 13 and applicable fire protection codes.

  • Experience preparing proposals for commercial and/or multifamily projects.

  • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NICET certification.

  • Experience with SprinkCAD, AutoCAD, Revit, or other fire protection design software.

  • Experience with multifamily residential projects.

  • Experience with design-build or delegated-design projects.

  • Established relationships with general contractors and developers.

  • Experience with BIM coordination.

  • Experience with fire pumps, standpipes, and other specialized fire protection systems.

What Our Client Is Looking For

Our Client is looking for someone who can own the estimating and preconstruction process - not simply perform quantity takeoffs. The ideal candidate understands both the technical and commercial sides of fire sprinkler contracting.

The successful candidate will become a key point of contact for Our Client's estimating and preconstruction activities, allowing management to focus more on business strategy, customer relationships, operations, and company growth.
