Senior Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager
One of our growing clients in the land development engineering industry is seeking a motivated Senior Project Engineer / Assistant Project Manager to join their team in Southwest Florida.
This is an excellent opportunity for a civil engineer who is ready to move beyond production design and take on increasing project leadership and management responsibilities, with a clear path toward a Project Manager role.
The successful candidate will manage land development projects from concept through permitting and construction documentation while coordinating with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal engineering teams.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment and is actively pursuing or has recently obtained Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
Manage land development projects from planning through permitting and design completion
Lead site civil design efforts, including:
Grading
Stormwater management
Drainage systems
Utility design
Roadway and site layout
Prepare and review engineering plans and construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D
Perform and oversee engineering calculations and technical design work
Coordinate with municipalities, utility agencies, and regulatory authorities
Prepare and review permit applications and supporting documentation
Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and project stakeholders
Monitor project schedules, budgets, and deliverables
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff
Coordinate work performed by Engineers-in-Training and CAD designers
Participate in business development and client growth initiatives
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
2-5 years of civil engineering experience, with a focus on land development
Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification
Ability to obtain PE licensure within approximately 6 months
Strong proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience with:
Site grading
Drainage and stormwater design
Utility design
Land development permitting
Ability to independently manage project tasks and deadlines
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Florida land development projects
Experience coordinating directly with local jurisdictions and regulatory agencies
PE license or candidates approaching PE eligibility
Experience mentoring junior engineers or leading project teams
