Highway Engineer

Job Summary

An established MBE/DBE civil engineering firm providing a full spectrum of civil engineering and related services throughout the Mid-Atlantic region is seeking an experienced Highway Engineer to join its team in Central Pennsylvania.

In this important role, the Highway Engineer will be responsible for establishing quality and reliability standards for transportation-related services. The position will report to the Director of Transportation and will primarily focus on the design and management of PennDOT and Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) projects.

Schedule

  • Full-time - 40 hours per week

  • Remote work opportunities available

  • Flexible work schedule

  • Attendance at field meetings throughout Central and Eastern Pennsylvania may be required

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and manage highway and transportation-related projects.

  • Lead and support PennDOT and PTC projects.

  • Establish and maintain quality and reliability standards for transportation services.

  • Coordinate project activities and ensure projects are completed according to project requirements.

  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.

  • Attend field meetings throughout Central and Eastern Pennsylvania as needed.

  • Apply current engineering standards, technologies, and best practices to transportation projects.

  • Support project planning, design, and delivery from initial development through completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

  • Professional experience in highway and transportation engineering.

  • Experience with PennDOT and/or PTC projects is highly preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of transportation engineering principles, design standards, and practices.

  • Experience with highway design and project management.

  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a remote environment.

  • Ability and willingness to attend field meetings in Central and Eastern Pennsylvania when required.
