Position Overview
Our client is seeking a Structural Engineer (EIT or PE) to join their engineering team in Houston, TX. This role focuses on delivering high-quality structural and civil engineering solutions while supporting project execution, design coordination, and team collaboration.
The Structural Project Engineer will be responsible for implementing successful engineering strategies, supporting civil/structural infrastructure projects, and ensuring project deliverables are completed on time, within budget, and according to client requirements, engineering specifications, and industry standards.
The ideal candidate will be a strong team player with leadership capabilities who can manage assigned project responsibilities, coordinate with internal teams, and contribute to engineering proposals and business development initiatives.
Serve as a safety role model by maintaining safety awareness and promoting zero accidents and injuries.
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, project teams, and discipline managers.
Support the delivery of high-quality engineering solutions while meeting client satisfaction and company goals.
Ensure compliance with project requirements, specifications, and industry standards.
Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining timelines and budgets.
Take ownership of assigned structural, civil, and utility engineering tasks.
Provide accurate project updates, identify challenges, and communicate issues to leadership.
Coordinate effectively with engineering teams and project stakeholders.
Maintain quality assurance standards across assigned engineering projects.
Support design coordination and provide timely feedback to team members.
Apply lessons learned from previous projects to improve engineering processes.
Provide technical recommendations and support process improvements.
Manage engineering calculations, design documentation, project records, and submittals.
Assist with project proposals by providing technical calculations, recommendations, and engineering support.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
7+ years of engineering experience, including at least 3 years in civil/structural engineering consulting.
Proven experience delivering engineering projects on time and within budget.
Strong knowledge of structural and civil engineering principles.
Experience solving engineering challenges across various infrastructure projects, including:
Buildings
Industrial facilities
Parking structures
Auditoriums
Bridges
Retaining walls
Culverts
Tunnels
Water/wastewater facilities
Strong understanding of structural analysis, applied mechanics, and engineering materials.
Familiarity with industry codes and standards including:
IBC
AASHTO
FEMA
OSHA
Proficiency with structural, civil, drainage, utility, and engineering design software.
Experience using drafting/design tools such as:
AutoCAD
MicroStation
Experience designing various structural systems including:
Steel structures
Metal structures
Reinforced concrete
Prestressed/post-tensioned concrete
Wood structures
Proficiency with engineering documentation tools including Microsoft Office and Mathcad.
Experience leading structural engineering teams and managing consulting projects.
Ability and willingness to support:
Construction management
Construction inspection
Field engineering activities
Experience or willingness to support civil engineering projects involving:
Roadways
Pavement
Drainage
Hydrology/hydraulics
Flood control
Utilities
Pipelines
Water/wastewater systems
Strong understanding of project schedules, deliverables, quality standards, and safety practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Experience working in a multicultural engineering environment.
Ability to lead and motivate engineering team members.
Strong collaboration and leadership skills with the ability to influence project outcomes.
Experience with environmental studies, traffic studies, and traffic control design.
Willingness to work overtime when required to meet project deadlines.
Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
EIT or PE License Required.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $105,962 annually
