About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced MIG & Stick Welder to join a growing manufacturing team in Westmont, IL. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on welding and fabrication experience working with mild steel, stainless steel, and various high-grade alloys.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled welder who can independently read mechanical drawings, lay out workpieces, set up welding equipment, and produce high-quality welds in a manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform MIG and Stick welding on mild steel, stainless steel, and various high-grade alloys.

  • Fabricate and weld components according to mechanical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.

  • Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings to properly lay out, position, and weld workpieces.

  • Set up and operate welding machines and equipment independently.

  • Use hand and power tools commonly associated with welding and fabrication.

  • Operate electric hoists to safely raise, lower, and position components and workpieces.

  • Operate a hand plasma cutter for cutting and fabrication applications.

  • Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for quality and conformance to specifications.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

  • Follow established safety procedures and manufacturing standards.

  • Accurately complete production documentation and process completed work using an ERP system on a company-provided tablet.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, production personnel, and other team members.

  • Support overall production goals, quality standards, and on-time delivery requirements.

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of professional welding and fabrication experience preferred.

  • Strong hands-on experience with MIG and Stick welding.

  • Experience welding mild steel and stainless steel; experience with high-grade alloys is a plus.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and assembly drawings.

  • Ability to independently set up welding equipment and complete welding assignments.

  • Experience with steel fabrication and component layout.

  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, plasma cutters, and electric hoists.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Welding certification is preferred but not required.

  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment.

Work Environment

  • Fully on-site at a manufacturing facility in Westmont, IL.

  • Hands-on manufacturing and fabrication environment.

  • Regular use of welding equipment, fabrication tools, lifting equipment, and other shop equipment.

  • Candidates must be comfortable working around industrial equipment and materials.
